The Greatest Running Stories Ever Told

In the twenty-first century, the running footmen have been noticed as a possible art form. British artist James Steventon offers what he describes as “running based performance,” delivering messages for special occasions like weddings, in costume researched from old etchings, created by the costume maker Amy Cunningham. Seeking the mental state defined by Csikszentmihalyi as “flow,” Steventon says, he achieves it by both endurance running and endurance drawing, not unlike the Tendai monks’ running prayer of Chapter 3.
